Spay and Neuter

All spay and neuter services include the following:

  • Initial physical examination
  • Anesthesia
  • Pain medication during surgery and for 3 days afterward

*E-collars (cone) are required for all dogs and female cats to prevent them from licking their incision while healing.

On your pet’s SNiP day, you’ll drop them off in the morning and pick them up in the late afternoon after they’ve had time to recover from anesthesia.  We’ll give you all the instructions you need along the way to get them to us and to help keep an eye on them for a few days after surgery.

Our pricing is by weight, as larger dogs require additional medication and anesthesia and age.  Puppy pricing is for dogs that are under 6 months of age and before their first heat cycle at the time of surgery.  All pricing includes physical examination, anesthesia, surgery, and pain medications during and after surgery.

    • Under 6 months: $130
    • 6+ months: $150
  • 20-39lbs
    • Under 6 months: $150
    • Over 6 months: $170
  • 40-59lbs
    • Under 6 months: $175
    • Over 6 months: $195
  • 60-79lbs – $190
    • Under 6 months: $205
    • Over 6 months: $225
  • 80lbs and up -$250 + $2 per pound over 80lbs

All dogs are required to have an E-collar (cone) after surgery to prevent licking and chewing of the incision.  E-collars are an additional $15 and are mandatory unless you bring a properly fitting e-collar with you at the time of drop-off.

Additional charges apply for the following:

  • Current lactation or post-partum (recent pregnancy) – $25
  • Pregnancy – $25-100 depending on stage.  IV fluids are also required for late term pregnancy for additional fee ($55).
  • Previous C-section or abdominal surgery – $45
  • Obesity – $25
  • Pyometra (infection of uterus) – $700-900+ total, depending on severity and size.
    • Animals must be stable, please call for scheduling.  Critically ill animals are not accepted.

  • Cryptorchid (undescended testicle, testicle is not in the scrotum)
    • Inguinal – $40 per testicle
    • Abdominal – $85 per testicle
  • Scrotal Ablation (removal of the excess skin of the scrotum) – $100
    • Highly recommended for all large breed dogs over 1 year of age to decrease swelling and risk of complications post-operatively; includes additional medication to go home.

Cat spays:

  • $95 for cats under 6 months of age and before their first heat cycle
  • $105 for cats 6 months and older at the time of surgery

All cat neuters are $75. This includes physical examination, anesthesia, surgery, and pain medications during and after surgery.

Additional charges may apply for the following:

  • Cryptorchid (undescended testicle, testicle is not in the scrotum)
    • Inguinal – $25 per testicle
    • Abdominal – $60 per testicle

Additional surgical services available for dogs or cats during their spay or neuter procedures include:

  • Umbilical Hernia Repair – $60+ depending on the size of hernia
    • This is a small opening in the body wall where the umbilical cord previously attached that did not completely close during development.  It is highly recommend to repair for the safety of your pet.
  • Dewclaw Removal – $35-60 per dewclaw depending on level of development
    • Only loose (no firm bony attachment) dewclaws from the rear limbs will be removed.  These are removed to prevent accidental injury.
  • Deciduous (baby) Tooth Removal – $25 per tooth
    • Any baby teeth present after 6 months of age should be removed to prevent disease and injury to the permanent tooth.

*Please note these services are only available for pets that are getting spayed or neutered.

Additional Surgery/Anesthesia Services

  • Pre-anesthestic Bloodwork – $95
    • Required for all pets 5 years and older as well as pyometra surgeries of any age.
    • Highly recommended for all pets.
    • Performed the morning of surgery in our in house laboratory to screen for the general health of your pet to help ensure they are a good candidate for anesthesia and surgery.  Evaluates red and white blood cells to look for anemia or early signs of infection, as well as liver, kidney, and blood sugar values.
  • IV Catheter and Fluids – $55
    • Required for all pets 5 years and older and all spay patients who are late term pregnant.
    • Highly recommended for all pets.
    • A catheter is placed in a vein and fluids are administered to support blood pressure and hydration, and provide faster access for IV medications in the event of an emergency.
  • Anti-nausea Medication (Cerenia) – under 25 pounds $35, over 25 pounds $45
    • Required for any pet that vomits during or after anesthesia.
    • Highly recommended for all pets, especially if your pet has a sensitive stomach.
  • Post Surgery Sedative – $15
    • One week of a light sedative pill for dogs, recommend for all dogs who need some help remaining calm during their surgery.

  • Microchip (includes registration) – $40
  • Rabies Vaccine – $20
  • Canine Distemper/Parvo Vaccine (DAPP) -$25
  • Canine Bordetella Vaccine (Kennel Cough)  – $25
  • Feline Distemper/FVRCP Vaccine – $25
  • Feline Leukemia Virus Vaccine* -$25
  • Feline FVRCP/Leukemia Combo Vaccine* – $45 (save $5)
  • Heartworm and Tick Fever Testing – $45
    • Required to purchase/receive heartworm preventative or prescription
  • FIV/FeLV Testing (cat) – $45
    • *Required prior to Feline Leukemia (FeLV) vaccine*
    • Recommended for all new cats coming in to household
  • Nail Trim – $10
  • Anal Gland Expression (dog) – $20

Community/Feral Cat Spay or Neuter

Includes a visual examination pre-operatively, brief physical examination under anesthesia, surgery, long acting pain medication, mandatory ear tip, microchip check, and flea/ear mite check.  This package is for TNR (trap, neuter, release) of feral cats only.  The patient must arrive in a live trap. Cats that are obviously friendly and/or owned pets are not eligible.  The cost is $70 per cat, with an additional $20 charge for pregnant cats.  If you are planning on trapping 1 or 2 cats at a time, please bring them in from 8:30-8:45am Monday-Friday, no appointment needed.   DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY as we will not be able to accept TNR cats until our dog check-in is completed.  Feral cats will be accepted for surgery on a first come, first serve basis until we reach our maximum capacity for the day.  If you are planning to bring in 3+ cats on a specific day, please call the office at 623-887-7647 so we can plan accordingly.
